Name: Linda Ripper
City and State you live: Brisbane, Queensland
Favourite Quote: Oh I have many:
“Sometimes I do get to places just when God’s ready to have somebody click the shutter.” – Ansel Adams
“I still find each day too short for all the thoughts I want to think, all the walks I want to take, all the books I want to read, and all the friends I want to see.” – John Burroughs
I was born in 1965, have a family, solo travel most of the time, first overseas adventure in 2013 and I’ve been lucky enough to travel overseas every year since. I’ve visited many capital cities in Australia. I’ve done a few road trips mainly to Canberra and country Victoria. I usually camp with photography friends but I’d LOVE to find others to camp with more.
A month, then I’m sort of missed at home.
I have 4 for different reasons.
UK – The Lake District is stunning.
Ireland – I picked up a car and just drove, looking for my pot of gold.
USA – Midtown in New York City, I actually didn’t feel like I was in such a HUGE city.
Tasmania – It’s just there and nothing is too far a drive, so much on offer, I have often said I’d move there but I’m thinking I need somewhere quieter now.
As kids our only holidays were camping ones, we used to camp at Coolum right on the beach front a bit, our treat was when the milkman would drive around and we’d get either a chocolate or strawberry milk in little glass bottles and he’d collect the bottle the next day. Building the biggest sandcastles we could over a whole day.
Any walk in the Lake District makes you go WOW at some stage.
Keeping my phone charged as I often use it to take photos and videos with.
Not weird but the most eeriest/spiritual feeling was at Stonehenge, just after sunrise but the area was covered in fog, I’d joined a tour before it opened to the public and we got to walk amongst the stones. Awesome!
I’d love to do a safari. Lions, cheetahs, elephants etc.
A sense of actually how HUGE the world is, yes Australia is vast but it’s not till you start adding in flying times you get the whole picture.
Friendships, travelling has allowed me to finally hug people I’d been corresponding with for many years online who’ve helped with information in the planning stages of my adventures. They’ve not been strangers, just friends I hadn’t met in person. To share a cuppa, meals and drinks, stories, laughs and tears. Those people mean the world to me.
Ireland – Cliffs of Moher – standing on the edge of the cliff top actually having to lean out towards the ocean to counteract the strong wind trying to blow you over on to the land.
My passport, it gets me anywhere I want to go, next would be my Pacsafe shoulder bag with it’s anti theft design.
