There is a free picnic area and campsite, right at the end of the Megalong Valley. You will need to pass through three gates to access it, and there is an optional donation box at the last property which goes to the owners of the property. Camping and picnicking is free.
Facilities include campfire sites, a level grassy area, a pit toilet, and rainwater from a tank which cannot be regarded as drinking water without treatment. There’s a great view, and it makes a very pleasant overnight stop. It’s also used as a car park by bush walkers undertaking walks in the remote Wild Dogs mountains.
