Tidal River is the main location for camping and accommodation in Wilsons Promontory National Park.
The visitor centre at Tidal River provides information about walking tracks and things to do within the park. The centre is open daily from 8.30am – 4.30pm.
The Tidal River General Store stocks milk, bread, ice, gas refills and souvenirs, along with a basic range of supermarket and emergency items. Hot and cold food is available from the takeaway at the store. See the main park page for opening times.
All facilities at Tidal River are within walking distance of Norman Beach.
Tidal River offers 484 camping and caravan sites situated near the beach and river. 20 powered sites are available.
Campground facilities include modern amenity blocks with toilets, hot showers, laundry facilities, dishwashing stations and picnic areas equipped with free gas barbecues.
Generators and fires, including solid barbecue fuel (such as wood and briquettes), are not permitted. Portable gas barbecues are permitted but must not be lit on days of Total Fire Ban.
A wide range of roofed accommodation is also available including cabins, huts, group lodges and the award winning Wilderness Retreats. See the Tidal River Accommodation page for more information.
Mobile device charging stations
Mobile device charging stations are available outside the Tidal River Visitor Centre and in some laundries throughout the campground.
A $2 coin is required to access the charging stations which is returned when you have finished charging your device.
Tidal River campsites must be booked and fees apply. Outside of selected holiday periods booked sites are unallocated and you may choose your site on arrival on a first come, first served basis.
Please note that camping on weekends during February and March is very popular and often books out well in advance.
Advance bookings and payment are required year round. View advanced booking and release dates.
Bookings for selected holiday periods
Advance bookings apply for selected holiday periods for Tidal River camping, including Labour Day weekend (minimum 3 nights), Easter weekend (minimum 4 nights) and Melbourne Cup weekend (minimum 4 nights). During these periods you will be allocated a numbered site.
