Copeton Dam is located close to Inverell in northern NSW. Copeton Dam is impressive it is three times the size of Sydney Harbour when at 100%, it has some of the best supply of freshwater Cod and amazing fishing with cod up to 1.3 meters. It has a maximum depth of 104 metres and offers an array of water sports on the dam. Copeton Dam is stunning because it has some of the best waterfront camping you’ll find and history anywhere in the area.
For just a small fee you can go to the northern side of Copeton Dam along Auburn Vale Road from Inverell. It has waterfront sites, fires and dogs are permitted basic showers and toilets, plenty of boat launching spots with total serenity. Free camping can be found on the Eastern side coming in from Howell, with no facilities you need to be totally self-sufficient as it’s a long way into town if you forgot the loo paper.
Unwind and enjoy a family holiday with a difference in the great outdoors; there is so much to discover. Play some outback golf and maybe spot an emu or a kangaroo on the course. Challenge your family and friends to a hit of tennis on the floodlit courts, or discover the rugged country and wildlife while enjoying a bushwalk or bike ride. Waterskiing, wakeboarding, sailing, canoeing or just kicking back with a fishing rod are just a few of the fabulous activities to enjoy on this the beautiful lake. Take a picnic or have lunch at the Northcott Kiosk. Watch the kids play in the waterpark or on the jumping pillow, you can stay all day.
